Forward slash podcast. So I want to talk to you about today is one of the things that I hear very frequently, right. So constantly having calls week after week, number of people looking to find out more about our advisory programme. And as we come in, and we really explore a lot of the different challenges really that are happening at the office or the in their businesses, maybe small business or just new opportunities that they want to be able to explore, there's a number of things that really comes up. And this is really specifically related to those of you that are in the workplace environment, especially if you're in a big multinational, like I was like I was in a company that had 150,000 employees around the globe. And so you start to see a lot of patterns. And one of the patterns that we talked about quite frequently is you want to be able to increase your work satisfaction. But with so many people at the office, there are so many different things and opportunities or people that are vying for your time, what you want to be able to do is increase your job satisfaction, and you want to have an increase in productivity related to the job satisfaction without feeling completely bogged down. And so a lot of times is talking to mid to upper level executives and many high paid sales executives that talk about the long hours that you're constantly working. And at the end of the day, what you really want to do is just be a good co worker, you want to get your stuff done, you want to be known as someone who can be reliable. And like I said, you really want to be known for having that improved work quality, and really would love to be able to have some visibility for promotion or have access time, so you can do other things. Well, a lot of things that come up, right, and what I want to talk to you about how you can get to that increased job satisfaction is really by being able to establish some very clear boundaries, and specifically be able to do that at work. Like I don't know if any of these sound familiar to you. But a lot of the things that we talk about on these calls every week is the things that are vying for for your time, especially in very large companies you've got, you're the you're the the high performing employee, and you're also the person who's very nice and open to everybody. And so quite frequently, you have people that are knocking on your door or giving you a call and said, Hey, Ken, I've got this part of my job, but can you can you help me to do this. And so before you know it, you're also helping other people to do their job not once or twice, but quite frequently. And maybe you also find that you're the person who's not only the first person in the office, but because you're helping other people do their jobs all day long. You're also finding that you're the last one to leave. And I mean, it can be the real office, or the virtual office tech attached to your screen at zoom from the beginning of the morning, all the way to the end of the night, after dinner beyond dinner into the early hours of the morning sometimes. So we are in a virtual world and the high, highly remote world. So that's one of the things that also here coming up here coming up pretty frequently is that you're always on.

04:17

I don't know misplaced priorities. One of the things that happens a lot of times is when you're supposed to be doing your job because you're worried about upward mobility, you are doing so many other things other than the key performance indicators that your job pays you your salary and or your bonus, or your management by objectives and BeOS. And you find yourself really focusing on the things that are not the most important things, the things that the company set out in your roles and responsibilities. And before you know it, you're helping everybody else but you're not focused on your core thing.

04:48

Sometimes you have people that you know, you just have difficult co workers and especially when you're getting back into the work environment, you have people that are just simply not nice, not kind and because of that is very distraught.

05:00

tip for you in your job in terms of being able to increase your job satisfaction in terms of being able to also increase your productivity. Usually, if you're not satisfied, it's hard to make your productivity up there. And then one of the other things I quite frequently hear is just, and it breaks my heart to hear this, but people that just, you know, you may not like your job, you just simply dislike your job. That's heartbreaking. And it's one of those things that we really dig deep into, and dive and explore, to really, truly understand what is it that's driving the dislike for your job. But more importantly, all of these different things that are happening, whether you're spending too much time in the office, you're doing other people's jobs, you're misplacing your priorities, you are working with difficult co workers or you simply in like I said, it breaks my heart that you just simply dislike your job.

05:46

You look around and you see, wow, that there are other co workers of yours that are happy, they're energetic, they're getting their job done. They're sitting at the top of the charts, each time on the head of the KPIs, the leaderboards, all that kind of stuff. And so you're wondering a little bit and one of the things that we talked about, I really want to make it super simple. The thing that you can be looking for when you have this lack of satisfaction in your job, and you want to be able to increase your boundaries are really two simple steps, right? Number one is Take responsibility for your work. When you take responsibility for your work, meaning you are going to do what you need to do first, and then help others second is simply it's very similar, like when you're on an aeroplane, right, when you're on an aeroplane, even if you travel with children, they say make sure you put your mask on first. And then afterwards, once you are safe, you can help other people very similar thing. So first step is to take responsibility for your work. And then secondly, and this is really, it's to a and to B, first of all set very clear boundaries, and make sure that you respect and are having your boundaries respected at the office. So with that, it's one of these things that you want to make sure that not only are you setting taking responsibility for your work, you're setting clear boundaries around your work. Because when you do that, and it's not easy to do right in the very beginning, right, it's something that takes some time. And so it's rather to start sooner rather than later. And when you get started making sure that you're taking responsibility for your work, you're setting clear boundaries and borders and and respecting them and having them respected.

07:19

Once you get there, and hey, listen, you may not feel like you're, you're not the perfect co worker. And that's okay. Because what is actually happening when you do these two simple steps, take responsibility for your work and sit and have your clear boundaries respected, you're going to find that you are increasing the satisfaction your job because you're working on the things that are important to you and the outcomes that your employer expects, you're also going to find over time, you're gonna have a lot less additional requests of your time and from your colleagues, which is also a big bonus for you. And then two other things that are amazing, you are going to increase your productivity because you're focusing on the things that you're responsible for. And your personal and professional happiness is going to increase. So

08:00

if any of this stuff happens, and you're you know, you want to increase your job satisfaction, you want to have more productivity, and you want to be able to find a solution for that. Well, it's about taking those two simple steps that have talked about taking responsibility for your work, and then also setting clear boundaries and having those boundaries respected. And so listen to this year, just two very simple steps that you can take. If you know if you're having challenges with this, put them in place. If you've got questions, reach out. And if you know of someone who is facing these challenges, share today's episode with them. Share the episode and you can get together have a conversation make it really super, really simple.

08:36

Because if you can be the person that brings this solution to someone else and helps them well, that's also great for you. So listen, Mike, I said, take today's episode, share it with others make the most of it. And while you are putting this episode into action in your own life, I'll be here preparing for the next episode. So until then go out and make it a great day. Thank you very much
